The Smart Airport Technologies Association Inc (SMART) is governed as a Non-Profit 501(c)(6), by a Board of Directors, a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and an Advisory Team; composed of representative airport-owner and government technology innovators and university program representatives from across the globe. The Advisory Team recommends priorities for SMART's areas of focus, which the Board of Directors and its officers manage to fruition through SMART's Best Practices Teams.

Brings 4 decades of systems engineering and business process improvement experience from the Space Shuttle Program and over 30 airports. Learned the airport owner's perspective during his initiation into the airport industry in the mid-1990s, serving as the technology applications manager for Orlando International Airport. For nearly 3 decades has led and supported various airport industry committees and working groups via AAAE, ACI, and ACC in establishing technology best practices sustainable by airport owners; most recently assembled and led the AAAE Airport Digital Twin Working Group in development of the Digital Twin Roadmap for Airport Owners.

University of Central Florida (UCF) Professor, bringing 4 decades of academic and commercial research and development experience, primarily in the areas of simulation modeling and predictive analytics for process/systems optimization. Has been supporting NASA, USAF, Orlando Int'l Airport and many other clients in process improvements of various operations and logistics. Has formed and leads several successful start-up companies leveraging state-of-the-art technologies for transportation and government applications, including various airport process optimizations.

Brings over 2 decades of technology applications experience focused on transportation, including a decade of support for the TSA, involving security credentialing, vetting, biometrics, and screening. Served as Director of the AAAE's Innovation Accelerator, helping the airport community (e.g., airports, airlines, DHS, FAA, start-ups, corporates) harness the benefits of emerging technologies. Now leading Introba's corporate strategy and innovation in support of the transportation sector, and its parent, Sidara as its Global Director of Digital Advisory Services. Bringing expertise in innovation, strategy, emerging technology, aviation, business development, ventures, marketing, team building, security (identity management), and enterprise delivery.

Managing Director of N+P Innovation Design, bringing over 2 decades of experience creating innovative, life-centered designs that shape the future of public and private mobility, airport environments, healthcare, industry, and home appliances. Her approach combines strategic foresight with a commitment to integrated, sustainable solutions, collaborating with clients ranging from start-ups to global industry leaders. Leads multidisciplinary teams across Munich, Vienna, and Atlanta to drive future-focused solutions in the mobility and airport sectors, with a strong focus on holistic passenger experiences including design of seamless passenger journeys, integrating wayfinding, interiors, touchpoints, and service design into cohesive, user-driven environments that enhance comfort, efficiency, and emotional connection.

Brings 4 decades of spatial information technology experience including airports at Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Charlotte, and others. As its President, leads x-Spatial and its development of the Airport Enterprise Geospatial Information System (AEGIS), achieving industry leading interoperability between Autodesk and Esri for airport enterprise management; including integration of BIM, CAD, GIS, and LiDAR with draped 360 degree imagery in support of digital twins. Moreover, Ed has integrated state-of-the-art AI machine learning for automated geospatial data capture of airport assets from LiDAR draped imagery, tremendously reducing airport owner efforts in maintaining digital twins.

Brings over 2 decades of experience in helping multiple domestic and international airports adopt BIM as a tool for design and construction, so the data captured during these phases can be leveraged to feed airport enterprise asset management system, including Digital Twin. Jorge served as the BIM Director on the airport owner’s side for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. As its founder and CEO, Jorge leads PDBM Consulting in setting up airport owner BIM standards and BIM contract language, along with multiple protocols and procedures to enable owners to receive, produce, and release information in a consistent format, providing increased efficiency and productivity along with reducing time and cost.

Brings 4 decades of experience in infrastructure data management and business process improvement. As President & CEO of EPIC Engineering & Consulting Group, was awarded a prestigious National Academy of Science Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant, to invent and develop Simplify i3; a state-of-the-art digital transformation platform, providing integrated infrastructure intelligence (i3). This flexible platform integrates leading technologies from Microsoft, Google, Esri, Apple, and more... to simplify daily processes for infrastructure owners, including airports; such as Part-139 inspections, work orders, incident reporting and FAA compliant Safety Management Systems (SMS).

Brings more than 3 decades of leadership experience in asset management and maintenance innovation, beginning his career at Toronto Pearson International Airport, and later leading major Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) implementations across multiple industries including airports.
Richard leads TRO Maintenance Solutions, focusing on aligning people, processes, and technology to build reliable, sustainable, and future-ready organizations.

Brings nearly 3 decades of experience in airport management and technology leadership. Majed previously served in key roles at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, where he led enterprise-wide ERP and GIS modernization initiatives, and at Abu Dhabi International Airport in the United Arab Emirates, where he led the development and deployment of an airport-wide GIS program. Majed is a licensed architect and proficient in Esri and Autodesk tools; including teaching introduction and advanced GIS classes at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas (UNLV), and College of Southern Nevada (CSN). Now semi-retired, Majed continues supporting airports as a senior consultant with Barich, Inc.
